About Us

Hukatere Lodge offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in the lodge building and a separate camping ground with cabins. It is located in an idyllic location on the secluded west coast of the Aupouri Peninsula in the Far North of New Zealand. You can enjoy unobstructed views of the wilderness of the Ninety Mile Beach. We are completely self-sufficient for power and water, having the least possible impact on our outstanding natural environment.

Hukatere Lodge and Camping Ground is an ideal location to explore Cape Reinga, West and East Coast beaches and numerous walks and activities nearby. We also offer a carrell and paddocks for you to bring your own horses.

The Te Araroa Tramping and Hiking Trail passes along our property and Hukatere Lodge and Camping Ground is a convenient overnight stop between The Bluff and Ahipara.

The Lodge has a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering or alternatively we cater for your meals if arranged prior. For larger groups or special occasions you can rent the complete lodge.

The Hukatere Camping Ground has cabins and spacious places for tents and parking for campervans and caravans along with hot showers and communal kitchen.

WiFi is available for our guests.

Your Host

Gabi Pfaender, your host, is an artist with an avid interest in sculpture, painting, photography and printmaking. Her work is influenced by the costal scenery where she lives and works. Gabi is very passionate about creating and nurtering this place where people feel relaxed in a comfortable setting with all mode and coms. Hukatere Lodge and Camping Ground in the wilderness along the Ninety Mile Beach. Where you never stop to gaze at the forever changing scenery of the west coast.
